Paul has been working in the electrical, electronic and scientific instrumentation industry for 35 years as Metrologist, Test Engineer, Plant Engineer, Testing Officer or Technician. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Maths and Physics. He is also an electrician (NSW Contractor Licence No. 68692C) and holds an amateur radio licence (callsign VK2ZBI).
Paul was a Testing Officer and approved signatory in the High-Voltage Laboratory of the National Measurement Institute (NMI - formerly CSIRO National Measurement Laboratory - NML) in Lindfield NSW for almost 15 years, from 1998 to 2013, where he performed many tests and calibrations on instrument transformers and high-voltage equipment for the power industry, both at NMI in Sydney and at client premises in Sydney, Brisbane and New Zealand. In August 2014, he formed the company Power System Support Pty Ltd.
He was until recently a member of Standards Australia's Technical Committee EL-013 ("Measurement & Protection Transformers". His experience also includes running the Short-Circuit Testing facility (10 kA), a NATA-accredited facility then at Email Westinghouse, Rosebery NSW.
Paul has been an approved signatory for a wide range of electrical tests and calibrations, in NATA-accredited facilities in other organisations, for more than 20 years and is well-versed in the estimation of uncertainties in measurement, according to the ISO Guide (JCGM 100). He was a presenter of training in this area for the NMI, co-presenting courses in Sydney, Melbourne and Hong Kong.
Paul is a member of the the Metrology Society of Australia (MSA), the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the Australian Institute of Physics (AIP) and a Technologist Member of Engineers Australia (IEAust). He has also served as the Secretary and NSW Co-ordinator of the MSA.
Paul has extensive experience in the implementation of quality systems to ISO 9002 and laboratory quality systems to ISO/IEC 17025.
Brian is an Electrical Engineer and Metrologist, with more than 20 years at the CSIRO National Measurement Laboratory (later National Measurement Institute) working particularly in calibration and research in resistance standards. Prior to that Brian had 10 years at Department of Defence Laboratories at Garden Island, working on radar, underwater weapons systems, wireless communications, microwave and electronic test instrumentation.
